During a recent visit to MoMA in NYC I was moved by Mark Rothko’s painting No.10. Although I started this painting with No. 10 in mind, I finished it with thoughts of my recent visit to Carrot Creative during the same trip. I felt fortunate to meet Carrot founder Mike Germano, some of the Carrot staff and friends of Carrots. They were all fun, intelligent and kind indivduals. Just the kind of folks you’d want on your creative team. I was offered this opportunity because my talented daughter Rianna is a carrot as well.
The undiluted cadmium orange I used as my primary color brought the bold new office of Carrot Creative into my thought stream as I painted. The wonderful sense of open space in their office is reflected in the orange color block. The edges are uneven, and purposefully so. Pink hovers above as a way to remind us that the unexpected is a good thing, in art and in business. I can visualize this painting in the Carrot foyer, over their funky orange couch or even over their mobile beer tap.
Carrot Creative is a Brooklyn-based new media agency and was the muse to complete this painting.
